Financial Modeling Fundamentals Workshop

What the course covers

A sequential breakdown of each topic. Read through stages in order or use the expandable sections to review specific areas.

Workshop Schedule

  • Morning Block — Excel setup, model architecture, and assumptions sheet design
  • Income statement build: revenue drivers, cost structure, EBITDA
  • Balance sheet mechanics: working capital, PP&E, debt schedule
  • Afternoon Block — Cash flow statement: direct vs indirect method, linking all three statements
  • Circular references: interest expense and revolver balance
  • Error-checking techniques and audit tools
  • Q&A and model review
What is included in the registration fee

Exercise files, a printed formula reference card, and access to a recorded walkthrough of the completed model sent within three business days after the event.

Most financial modeling courses start too abstract. This workshop starts with a blank Excel file and builds a three-statement model step by step.

What the workshop covers

Participants work through income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement integration. Every formula is explained in context, not just demonstrated. By the end of the day, you will have a working model you built yourself, not a template someone else made.

Who this is for

Finance students, junior analysts, and career changers who have used Excel before but have never built a linked financial model. No prior modeling experience required, but basic spreadsheet comfort is assumed.

Format and tools

The session runs for seven hours with two breaks. All participants receive an exercise file before the event. A laptop with Excel 2016 or later is required. Google Sheets is not supported for this workshop due to formula compatibility issues.

Sample three-statement model structure covered during the workshop

Instructor Tobiasz Wierzbicki has built models for M&A transactions and infrastructure financing over twelve years. He teaches by fixing mistakes in real time, which tends to stick better than watching polished demos.

From the instructor

Financial modelling is a skill built through repetition with real data. The exercises here use publicly available company filings, so every number you work with connects to an actual business decision.
